Well...I have to tell you...In this brain there are lot's of things going on and, of course, the most of them are about design... I've read many very different opinions through the internet...
...so I would like to have your opinion about some thoughts...Here is some 'Material':
1. Style VS Function
The point is, in one hand I am for the style and beauty itself, I think everything should be beatifull, or at least pleasant to see...I don't care if it is useless like the Z4 side panel...but just if it is not detrimental to the car's efficiency...
In the case of the Lexus IS-F and Civis's useless tailpipes I am not quite convinced...
On the other hand, I defend the form-folows-funcion movement, but not absolutely. Let's see, the best example I can remember for that is the FIAT Multipla, one of the most strange cars we've ever seen, but one of those that was developed with that philosophy. Even so, in certain cases, that ideology can bring to reality great looking cars, as (in my opinion) the 24H-LeMans Racing Cars like the EXP Bentleys, 90's Peugeots, C9 Mercedes and so on...but in production cars there's not enough 'function' to Design them that way...That is quite clear in the 4 door Sedan Civic ima, that is more (aero)efficient that the Toyota's Prius, even if it look otherwise.
2. Exposed wheels...so I would like to have your opinion about some thoughts...Here is some 'Material':

They give us the freedom to give the car's every shape you want...it's true, but that's too much easy!! Since the early stages of the automotive Industry that the challenge was to cover the exposed, super-unefficient and ultra-high-drag wheels, resulting in the nowadays - modern cars...So why to uncover them again?? because it looks modern? No! Take a look at this, don't you think that's too similar to the most of the concepts presented in the Design Schools over the world? The challenge is all about making the best good looking car, with covered wheels...
This is just my opinion, but please let me know what you think, I'm open to new point's of view!
